COVID-19 UPDATE - 8:15PM - JUNE 7, 2021

Covid-19 Days

Effective immediately, employees will no longer be eligible for paid COVID-19 days if advised to self-isolate while awaiting a PCR test result, unrelated to a positive rapid test result. Employees may elect to use their vacation time or floater day to cover their loss of wages while they await their test results.

The reason for this change is mounting evidence of suspected mis-use of our COVID-19 pay benefit.

Employees will continue to qualify for any remaining COVID-19 pay if:

  • They have been directed by the Nova Scotia Health Authority to self-isolate as a result of a positive PCR test result,
  • They have been declared by the Nova Scotia Health Authority or the Company to have been a close contact of a positive case,
  • They have received a positive Rapid test result and have been directed by the NSHA or the Company to self-isolate while awaiting their PCR test result

Progress through the phases of the NSHA’s reopening plan depends on the number of people vaccinated and we urge everyone to do this.
