COVID-19 UPDATE - 11:30AM - JUNE 4

Weekly Covid-19 Update

There is continued positive momentum on the COVID front. Over the last week, the province has unveiled a Phased (5 Phases) re opening plan, children have returned to school, vaccination rates continue to rise and our provincial case numbers continue to diminish.

We have continued our onsite testing at the Halifax Shipyard, and we continue to build on all the successes over the past three weeks which saw about 2000 tests administered.

Many of you have asked about the plan to return to the office for staff who have been working from home. Staff may choose to return beginning next week (June 7) with a full return planned for June 14.

  • June 14 aligns with the province’s anticipated advancement to Phase 2 of the re opening plan.
  • Phase 2 allows in person gatherings, inside seating at restaurants, and meetings of up to 10 people.
  • Employees who are unable to return on June 14 (e.g., childcare issue, immuno compromised, etc.) are asked to speak with their leader.

Of course, we will continue to monitor the COVID situation and take guidance from NSHealth .

For those returning to work at the Halifax Shipyard, please ensure you obtain a negative COVID test result (PCR or Rapid) prior to your return. Given the current direction by NSHealth , and the nature of the work at the Shipyard, it is important we continue with regular testing at this time. Employees at other locations are encouraged to be regularly tested as well.

Progress through the phases of the NSHA’s reopening plan depends on the number of people vaccinated and we urge everyone to do this.

Thank you for your continued efforts in following the COVID 19 guidance from Nova Scotia Health. Together, we will get through this.

Keep safe and stay well.
