Collective Agreement Implementation Update

In the wake of ratifying the new Collective Agreement we understand that there are a lot of questions about what ratification means and what comes next. Here is some information intended to answer those questions.

When will the changes in the new Collective Agreement be implemented?

Not all changes in the new Collective Agreement will be implemented at the same time:

  • Some changes will be implemented immediately (example – pay increases).
  • Some changes have a specific date that the Company and the Union agreed upon in collective bargaining for when they will be implemented in the future.
  • For all other changes we are working on implementing as quickly as possible and we are discussing the timing with the Union.

Once implementation dates are decided, they will be communicated to everyone.

Until implementation dates are decided, we will continue to follow the terms and conditions outlined in the previous Collective Agreement.

When will my pay increase take effect?

Your pay increase will take effect for hours worked beginning July 1, 2018.

There will also be a retroactive payment in the amount of 2% on all wages (regular and overtime) for the time period of January 1 to June 30. This payment will take time to process and will not be immediate. Once a date has been confirmed it will be communicated to everyone.

When will I get a copy of the new Collective Agreement?

Following ratification the process begins of making edits to the language in the previous Collective Agreement document. Due to the volume of changes and because it is important to get it right, several sets of eyes from both the Company and the Union will review and approve the final version of the new Collective Agreement. Once approved, the Bargaining Committees will sign and it will be sent to the printer.

How do I get answers to my questions about the new Collective Agreement?

If you have a question about the new Collective Agreement, please ask your Supervisor to contact Labour Relations to get the answer.
